How This Young Single Mom Defied All Odds, Left Corporate & Built a Multimillion-Dollar Business

Listen on

Nothing worth having in life ever comes easy and today’s guest, Shiloh Johnson, knows this firsthand. The youngest of seven siblings and a single mother at 17, Shiloh Johnson is no stranger to hard times. But, as she explains in this episode, the hard times are what mold us into better and better versions of ourselves.

Shiloh is the founder of ComplYant, a tech platform that provides small business owners with all the information they need to properly manage their business taxes. While working in corporate, Shiloh came to the realization that she was never going to get paid what she was worth, so she set herself a six-month financial target and ventured out into the world of entrepreneurship.

After seeing the pain points the small business owners had, Shiloh ultimately launched ComplYant, a tech company that has raised over $12M in funding and become one of the few Black women to raise $10M+.

Shiloh shares her experience of bringing an idea to life, testing it before going all-in, and the importance of putting yourself out there, asking for help, and pivoting along the way. We also talk about how to overcome self-imposed limits and the importance of managing your mental health as a founder, and so much more!
